The Muskegon Sail and Power Squadron will be hosting a free boater class beginning Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum. The museum is located at 1346 Bluff, Muskegon, Michigan next to the USS Silversides submarine. Registration will be form 6:40 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Six, two hour, weekly classes will be offered on the topics of required safety equipment, state and federal regulations, navigation aids, tying knots, and how to use GPS equipment. For those interested in taking an exam to earn a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Boating Safety Certificate, there is a $10.00 charge.
